Kimchi, the Most Famous Food in Korea

I am doing a part-time job in a restaurant. The master of the restaurant is making the kimchi these days. She told me some information about Kimchi.
There are about 190 kinds of kimchi in Korea. Each province has a different kind. Some of the names used long ago for the original types of kimchi are chimchae, chinjanga, and chimjang.
Also, there are different kinds for each season. For example, in spring watery kimchi which korean call mool kimchi. In summer, young radish kimchi which we call chong kak kimchi and cucumber kimchi is common.
Whole cabbage kimchi called tong kimchi and radish kimchi called altari kimchi are common in autumn and winter.
The original kimchi was just made of cabbage and salty water, but today it includes many kinds of ingredients such as red pepper powder, salt, sugar, pickld fish juice, seasonings and seaweed.
I like Korean kimchi, and I think kimchi soup is really delicious.

The best way to keep healthy

As the living standard improves, more and more people are paying attention to their healthy conditions. Different people usually have different ways to stay healthy. In my opinion, the most important thing is to keep a healthy attitude toward life.
It is true that physical factors affect one's health conditions a great deal, but at the same time, we should nor neglect the mental factors. Many scientific researches have shown that anger, suspicion and anxiety do great harm to human bodies, while being optimistic can cure prediction after they have been diagnosed incurable diseases. That is because they keep a good physical pains, we healthy people are much more lucky and therefore have more reason to maintain a healthy attitude to life no matter what kind of hardship life mat give us.
People use all kinds of methods to keep healthy because they want to live happily. Then in my point of view, there is no other way than keeping a healthy attitude toward life can make people happier and more healthy both physically and mentally.

A important festival in Korea- Chusok

There is also a mid-autumn festival in China, but it is called Chusok in Korea. And Korean Chusok is some different from China.

Chucok in Korea set on 15th of the eight lunar moon, it's the same time with Chinese mid-autumn festival, and Chusok is one of the most celebrant Korean hoilday. It occurs during the harvest season. Thus, Korean families take this time to thank ancestors for providing them wirh rice and fruits.

The celebrant starts on the night before Chusok and ends on the day after the hoilday. Thus, many Korean families take three days off from work to get together with family and friends.

The celebrantion starts with a family get-together at which rice cakes called"Songphyun" are served. These special rice cakes are made of rice, beans, sesame seeds and chestnuts. Then the family pays respect to ancestors by visiting their tombs and offering them rice and fruits. The Korean visit the graves of their ancestors to bow and clean the area for the coming winter. In the evening, children wear their favorite hanbok and dance under the bright moon in a large circle. They play games and sing songs.

This is all the Chusok that I know in Korea. When we had the holidays of Chusok, we couldn't go back China, but we Chinese students also celebranted our own mid-autumn festival.

Winter

Today is 17th Nov 2010, it's so cold that many people get cold,me too...............
In fact I like winter because we can see snow and fresh air.
I remember that when I was a little boy I often play with my friends outside when it was snowing.
At that time we didn't felt cold . Now I love snow also .Snow can let our heart be queit and cleaning.
I think if I have a girlfriend ,I will go to travling with her in the sonw place,I think it will very beautiful.
Winter is my best love season.What about you?

Basic Korean Concepts of Common Courtesy

I have studied in Korea for more than 2 years. I think almost all Korean are pretty polit. There are some basic Korean concepts of common courtesies that I know.

1. Help and show respect to the elderly.

2. Show respect for superiors.

3. Avoid confrontation or embarrassment for yourself and others.

4. Refuse a gift upon the first offering, do not be overzealous

or overeager.

5. Respect a person's privacy.

6. Use polite forms of language when making a request.

7. Show appreciation for others.

8. Give a gift before a request.

9. Show generosity.

10. Pay for a meal if you have suggested it.

Am I right? Korean friends. Do you have some more common courtesies that I don't know?
